The #3 soccer drill to teach players how to dribble a soccer ball

Here is another drill that I have used alot to teach how to dribble a soccer ball.

The players find this particular drill quite challenging, and the competitive nature of the drill ensures enthusiastic participation.

Organisation

• In an area of 20 yards by 20 yards, arrange 20 or so cones into pairs of gates as shown above.
• Players grouped in pairs
• Each player has a ball

Players must dribble the ball through the last gate and not just kick the ball through the gate. The first player past the last gate with the ball at their feet is the winner.

Its a simple but effective way to make players dribble with their heads up to avoid colliding with each other and to make sure that they know where the next gate is.
